MELODIME

Melodime, featuring Brad Rhodes (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Sammy Duis (piano, organ, bass), Tyler Duis (drums), and Jon Wiley (guitar, mandolin, dobro, bg vocals), has performed 125+ shows annually throughout the continental United States, sharing the stage with such well-known acts as Sam Hunt, Jonny Lang, A Thousand Horses, and Sister Hazel. The band has also left its mark internationally with performances in Mexico, Canada, and Europe, all while founding and running a charity, ‘Now I Play Along Too,’ which provides musical instruments and lessons to underprivileged children in the DC area, Florida and Haiti. The band is a fan-favorite in the festival scene, playing four consecutive Rock Boat cruises, as well as Musikfest, Herndon Festival and other events.

Melodime's latest single, "Little Thing Called Love,” has received a great response from both fans and critics alike. The Boot describe the track as "catchy, lyrically strong - and perfect to listen to with the windows down during the summertime months," while Tune Collective describes the track as a “fun song bursting with vibrant uplifting energy." Kings of A&R featured the band as a buzzing act, and The Washington Post noted "It doesn’t pay for those who want to say ‘I saw them way back when’ to procrastinate."  Melodime’s previous albums were recorded with platinum-selling producers, including Where the Sinners & the Saints Collide with Rick Beato(Parmalee, NeedToBreathe), and 3 Reasons For Fighting with Jim Ebert (Butch Walker, Cowboy Mouth).

THE NOVELISTS have a gift for combining engaging chords and harmony with thought-provoking storytelling.  With multiple lead singers, they possess varying sounds and styles all within a single group.

We learned of The Novelists on Train's Sail Across The Sun cruise.  After hearing their song Above The Hiding , we were hooked.  They have shared the stage with the likes of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, John Prine, Daryl Stuermer (Genesis), and Train.  They have performed in storied venues such as Cowboys Stadium, the Americana Music Festival, Swallow Hill, and The Living Room in New York City.

Our concert in August will take place on the heels of The Novelists' latest album release, making our fans among the first to hear the band's latest tunes.

DAPHNE WILLIS

We are stoked to welcome back DAPHNE WILLIS to our Sounds of Simon stage for the THIRD time.  Daphne has released a TON of new music since her last visit and we cannot wait to share it with you.

Raised in Chicago and relocated now to Nashville, Daphne cites influences as varied as Elvis Costello and Michael Jackson, but her musical output cleverly incorporates such inspirations into a style that is refreshing and contemporary in a way that suits her songs best. She is currently a Pop writer at Sony/ATV and continues to release music and tour as an Indie Artist.

KEATON SIMONS

KEATON SIMONS is a bad ass rocker with musical roots in soul, pop, rock, funk, and hip-hop. The first time we saw Keaton play live we fell in love with his style and sound.  He was on our house concert radar immediately that evening, and we are glad to have finally pulled together a show on our Sounds of Simon living room stage.

He's performed his original music on The Tonight Show with Jay LenoThe Late Late Show with Craig FergusonLast Call with Carson Daly, and The Ellen DeGenereres Show. Keaton's music is also regularly placed in feature films and TV shows including Sons of AnarchyPrivate Practice, and NCISMost recently, his latest single, "When I Go," was featured in both the 2015 Summer Finale and 2016 Winter Mid-Season Premiere of SUITS.

In 2015, Keaton supported Chris Cornell on his new album promo tour, playing guitar and singing background vocals on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy FallonJimmy Kimmel LiveGood Morning America and more. A video accompanying Cornell on "Nothing Compares 2 U" at SiriusXM Lithium XM surpassed 2 million views and Keaton's solo was named 1 of 5 Top Guitar Solos of 2015 by Baeble Music.

Proving that genres are just a state of mind, Keaton has even had success in the hop hop world as a writer, musical director, singer, guitarist and bassist with notable acts like Snoop Dogg, Gnarls Barkley, Tre Hardson of The Pharcyde, and underground hip hop legend Medusa.

STEVE EVERETT, BRAD RHODES, AND JD EICHER

We are wrapping up our 2016 concert year with a bang!  A trio of truly talented singer-songwriters - STEVE EVERETT, BRAD RHODES (Melodime), and JD EICHER - will be joining forces for an evening of great tunes right here in our living room.

Steve is coming off the recent release of his latest album Central Standards.  Labeled "Mr. Pop and Roll" by music critics, he has honed his pop/rock/soul sound into musical approach that is sure to put an immediate smile on your face.

Brad is the lead singer for the nationally acclaimed band Melodime.  His combination of bittersweet melodies and emotionally charged lyrics is bound to make you think "haven't I heard this song before?"  His music is heart-felt, relatable, and just plain awesome to listen to.

JD also has a recently released album The Middle Distance.  Songrwiting and curated lyrical expressions are at the root of his music.  His rust belt upbringing seeps into all aspects of his sound.  JD has shared the stage with Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay, Train, Maroon 5, Bryan Adams, Sister Hazel, Matt Nathanson, and many others.

TONY LUCCA

We are beyond stoked to announce that TONY LUCCA will be playing the Sounds of Simon stage for a rare intimate show on THU 20 OCT 2016 ... right here in our living room.

You may know Tony as a finalist on season 2 of The Voice, or from his time on The All New Mickey Mouse Club alongside music heavyweights Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.  However, we know Tony as a bad ass, old school rock and roll singer-songwriter whose last few albums clearly identify an artist who has embraced his own voice and genre.  We have been fortunate to see Tony play on several occasions and have always hoped we could find a way to host him for one of our shows.  That day is finally upon us!

His most recent full length album - the self-titled Tony Lucca - hints of 80's style heartland rock and roll.  Blue jeans.  White t-shirts.  And songs like "Sweat It Out," "Old Girl," "Delilah," and others.  Tony's recent EP - The Kickstarter Sessions - shows a different side of his music which is centered in his personal connections with his fan base.  The songs were written with and for fans who backed the production of Tony Lucca, the full length album.

Tony is also heavily involved in charitable work including the organization Music Is Love Exchange, or MILE for short.  They spearhead cultural education and immersion in Guatemala and also organize service trips that are open to the public.

Don't miss this one ...

NINA STOREY

We are psyched to welcome back NINA STOREY, a KBCO Studio C CD - Local's Edition alumnus, to the Sounds of Simon stage for what is sure to be another unforgettable evening.  On her latest album, Think Twice, NINA STOREY doesn't hold anything back. The soulful and sexy Los Angeles-via-Colorado chanteuse delivers honest and hypnotic songs steeped in classic soul-pop. Elegantly stripped, Nina is as powerful as she is provocative.

Produced by Chris Seefried (Counting Crows, Fitz and the Tantrums, Jay Nash, Haley Reinhart), the record has, in Storey’s own words, “the sensibility of an old-school soul record from the likes of Eartha Kitt, Diana Ross and the Ronettes with a modern, Bruno Mars pop edge.”

Nina has performed alongside the likes of Keb'Mo', Etta James, Sara Bareilles, Ani DiFranco, Sarah McLachlan, The Rescues, Shawn Colvin, DeVotchKa, and many more. She has also been featured on CNN Showbiz Today, MTV Online and Rolling Stone.com. She's had numerous film and television placements including The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy and Stay Cool on the big screen, and Days of Our Lives, So You Think You Can Dance, Girlfriends, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai and many more on the small screen.  As People Magazine said, "with a voice like hers, pyrotechnics are redundant."

The inspiration for his music comes from real life experiences, while he projects a raw and honest message wrapped in soul-filled packaging.  His music has been described as a cross between Eli Young Band, Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, and Marc Broussard.  He has shared the stage with KISS, Will Hoge, Sister Hazel, James Otto, Colin Hay (of Men At Work), Zac Brown Band, the Smithereens, Marshall Tucker Band, Love & Theft, Georgia Satellites, Edwin McCain, Blackberry Smoke, Alabama, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Barenaked Ladies as well as many others.

TAYLOR CARSON

TAYLOR CARSON returns for a record fourth performance on our Sounds of Simon stage.  Fresh off of a new deal with Fieldhouse Music (backed by BMG) and on the cusp of releasing a brand new album, this Sounds of Simon fan favorite ... and extended Simon family member ... will put on another great show.

It has been an honor watching Taylor grow as a musician since the time we first connected many years ago.  When you analyze the music and lyrics of his last two albums, Defending the Name and With Innocence, and the yet to be released Go Amaze, the evolution towards an ever more optimistic message in his writing and melodies is readily apparent.  I am also pleased to announce that Taylor has mastered the use of bullet points - an inside joke for those who joined us for his very first SoS show.

Help us close out an amazing Fall season with the one and only Taylor Carson.  An improv song is (almost) guaranteed, so start thinking of your three "things" to shout out - then watch the master do his thing.

While his range of song styles prevents him from being pigeon-holed into one specific genre, we do know this - his distinctive vocals and songwriting skills combine to create music that truly connects with his audience.

Last time around, we closed out the night with a group sing-along while clapping and stomping our feet.  Brace yourselves for the same kind of experience ... and perhaps an encore of a special "Colorado inspired" tune.

ADAM EZRA GROUP

Adam Ezra makes a return appearance to the Sounds of Simon stage ... and this time he is bringing the band.  Simply stated, we are lucky and honored to have ADAM EZRA GROUP play our "venue."  It is a very rare opportunity these days to see the band in such a small and intimate setting.

ADAM EZRA GROUP has played with musical legends such as Rusted Root, The Wailers, The Avett Brothers, Jason Mraz, The Goo Goo Dolls, Marshall Tucker Band, Blues Traveler, Los Lobos, Toad The Wet Sprocket, and others.  Their shows are always an energetic rush that will leave you feeling good for days.

They are constantly churning out new music and will be featuring some tunes from their 2015 release - Better Than Bootleg Vol. 2.

KINDRED

After a 10-year hiatus, local band KINDRED has reunited.  They are playing some old favorites as well as new tunes.  In addition to music from the band, the evening will include some solo music from band member Cody Qualls, who is also a member of the famed vocal band FACE.  Cody's latest single has already received air play on 93.3FM in Denver.

Eddie Kramer, producer of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Kiss,  Matchbox 20 and Carlos Santana, opted to record some of KINDRED's original works while they were visting the University of Colorado at Denver. During the sessions Kramer told the Denver Post, “I love the singer, I love the material, but most of all I love the attitude.”

RACHEL JAMES + DAVE PRESTON

Rachel James and Dave Preston of Rachel and the Kings (or King - singular - in this case) will be bringing their indie pop/rock sound to our living room.  As key elements of an ensemble on a rocket ride to the big leagues, they have shared the stage with the likes of Third Eye Blind, ZZ Ward, and The Fray, amongst many others. Don't miss this opportunity to hear an acoustic set and possibly even some unreleased material from core members of a group that was crowned as "Denver's Newest Rock Royalty" by Westword magazine.
